H D Blackline Handlebars

You know how I always sign off with my famous Coastin comment ? Well this is what you do when you want to make something happen . There is no coastin goin on here .  I keep scratching my head trying to come up with new and different parts to make our motorcycle lives better . That's tough to do in today's world . So many smart guys pumping out new and better parts . Recently I have had inquiries  from guys owning the newer Harley Blackline models . I had not checked out this model so was unaware of the strange set up H D did on the top tree and the bars they designed for this model .
The main changes Harley made for this handlebar set up was to make each side of the handlebar independent of each other . Spaced differently than any bike they have ever done . In other words , its a 2 piece set up . So you wonder what keeps them from spinning in the top tree when they are bolted down ? . Well there engineers came up with a cool idea to index the bar into the top tree  , preventing the bars from spinning as you hold on . The wires run internally and drop out of the bottom of bars under the top tree . These do not mount like anything you have seen come out of Milwaukee before .
Harley doesn't want you to change out your bars , they don't even offer any alternatives for this set up other than to have one option , and that is only the reach , close in or moved forward 3 " or so . Wow , that sure sucks for guys that want to add a touch of there own personality to there ride . Lately the calls have been coming in , can you hook me up John ? I got a Blackline and my bars SUCK ! .
Next came a trip to the Dealer to see what a Blackline bar looked like . Took it to my pal Tyson that can machine anything you can dream up . Told him I needed inserts that would allow me to weld them up and mount on a Blackline Top Tree . Next thing I know , Tyson calls and says come pick em up ! .
Cory wanted a set of T Bars for his Blackline Softail . Gave me some measurements and was stoked he found somebody that would help him out . I had a picture of these in Gloss Black Powder Coat but I can't find the image for this post . My next post will show the first set of " Dukes " for a Blackline . Will finish them up today . Sold 2 sets of these bars so far . I will sell bars for the Blackline  , or you can purchase my inserts and build your own bars . These inserts are for 1 1/4 " tubing , .120 wall . Will have inserts for 1 " tubing soon . Every time Harley changes something , it give's guys like me something to think about . I'll offer  different model bars for the Blackline .   T- Bars like you see here . An XL style T-Bar . Or my Fave's " Dukes ". You'll see those on my next post . Till then , " if your coastin , your goin downhill " . jg
